Jordan River Parkway Trail Restoration and Enhancement

Equinox Engineering partnered with SWCA Environmental Consultants, MGB+A Architects and Salt Lake City Corporation to provide design services and construction management for this urban wetland restoration project located in Northwest Salt Lake City. This project provides newly created gravity flow wetland cells designed to reconnect the river to the historical flood plain and the riparian corridor.  The floodplain of the Jordan River had been cut off from the channel with a high levee trail immediately adjacent to the river which created an erosional condition along the steep bank.  The side slope of the levee/bank trail was treated with soil lifts to promote riparian vegetation re-growth as a method of bank stabilization versus hardened rip rap armoring. Consulting services provided for this project include grading plan design, park layout, structure design and assistance with master concept planning.
